Dr. Pradeep Thapar opened Premier Psychiatry in 1999. More than 25 years later, our psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners and physician assistants care for children, teens and adults at our offices in Orland Park and Willowbrook, and by telehealth for patients across Illinois and Indiana.
Many of the people who come to us have already tried more than one antidepressant. Some have started to wonder whether anything will help. A lot of them didn’t know there were other options until they sat down with one of our clinicians.
Options Many People Haven’t Heard Of
Medication and therapy are still where most treatment starts, and for many people they work well. When they don’t, there are other paths we can explore together:
- TMS therapy, a non-invasive treatment that uses magnetic pulses and doesn’t require anesthesia.
- Spravato (esketamine), a nasal spray for depression that hasn’t responded to other antidepressants, given under medical supervision.
- Genetic testing, which can tell your provider more about how your body may process certain psychiatric medications.
None of these is right for everyone. A complete psychiatric evaluation is how we work out what makes sense for you.
